As for any research team, the summer season provides a valuable opportunity for the TRAVEL Chair to showcase its work and enhance its international visibility.

From Bergamo to Rabat and Beijing, we presented our latest findings on air passenger behavior at several major international conferences. Beyond the scientific sessions, these events allowed us to expand our professional network and foster new collaborations with researchers working on similar topics.

• ITEA 2026 | Bergamo, Italy. The annual conference of the International Transportation Economics Association was held from June 17 to 19 in Bergamo. Each year, ITEA serves as a focal point for economists worldwide working on transportation issues. Luca and Zélie delivered presentations on their work during the dedicated air transport sessions.

• ESA Africa 2026 | Rabat, Morocco. The Economic Science Association (ESA) Africa conference is a major event in experimental and behavioral economics. Attending was key to expanding our expertise in new methodological tools, allowing us to better capture air passenger behavior. Our new European survey (link to report), presented by Imane and Estelle, fit seamlessly with the conference’s focus on Bayesian methods.

• ATRS 2026 | Beijing, China. The 29th Air Transport Research Society Conference took place in Beijing this year, gathering 469 participants from 33 countries. The event aims to enhance research capabilities on truly multinational and multidisciplinary issues in aviation.

The TRAVEL Chair will keep this momentum going into the upcoming academic year, taking part in top-tier scientific conferences as well as public events alongside our sponsors and partners.
