Created in 2024, the ENAC-Air Caraïbes, French bee – “TRAVEL” Chair is dedicated to the study of new sustainable air mobility. Its aim is to gain a better understanding of structural changes in passenger demand, and to study the conditions under which technical progress and various operational innovations could meet new expectations.
The Chair’s missions are focused on the following areas:
This chair is a first in two respects: it is the first French chair in economics applied to air transport, and the first chair in the world dedicated to the study of passenger demand.
“We will be conducting large-scale consumer surveys. We will be drawing on the expertise of mathematicians and statisticians to analyse the data. The idea is to interview consumers and see how they think about their mobility and develop economic and econometric models that will be tested to analyse this behaviour and draw lessons and make predictions“. Estelle Malavolti, holder of the TRAVEL Chair.
“We need a rational understanding, based on data, of how demand is evolving. This Chair comes at an important time, just after the covid crisis, and at a time when business is rebounding” – Christine Ourmières-Widener, CEO of Air Caraïbes and French bee, both patrons of the Chair.
